Jason W. Wansor is the chair of the Firm's Litigation Department. An accomplished civil litigator, his practice focuses on personal injury and wrongful death claims, real estate, and land use disputes, products liability, business torts, construction law, and will and trust contests. He has been awarded 10 Best Attorneys" for California by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys for providing exceptional and outstanding client service. To date, Mr. Wansor has recovered over $300 million dollars for his clients in cases arising out of wrongful death and personal injury claims.

Since 2018, Mr. Wansor has represented multiple families and individuals who lost loved ones, homes, personal property and suffered other significant injuries as a result of the devasting Thomas Fire and related Montecito debris flows. These "mass tort" complex civil litigation cases filed against Southern California Edison have been litigated for nearly half a decade in the Los Angeles Superior Court where Mr. Wansor continues to doggedly pursue justice for all of his clients who were damaged by these events.

Mr. Wansor was lead trial counsel in Kracke v. The City of Santa Barbara, a highly publicized case challenging the City's ban against short-term vacation rentals in the Coastal Zone. The victory against the City preserved important individual property rights in allowing for the continued operation of short-term rentals while re-opening affordable lodging alternatives to families desiring to stay near Santa Barbara's beautiful coastline. In 2021, the Court of Appeal affirmed the trial court's judgment (Kracke v. City of Santa Barbara, 63 Cal.App.5th 1089), resulting in a landmark published decision with lasting implications on how all coastal cities regulate short-term rentals.

Mr. Wansor's analytical strengths allow for the accurate assessment of potential exposure and liability and the creation and implementation of sophisticated litigation strategies. His strategic sense, oral advocacy and writing abilities lead to successful results, whether by keen negotiation or resolution through trial.

Prior to joining Rogers, Sheffield & Campbell, Mr. Wansor was a litigation partner at the national law firm, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP. During his tenure at Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Wansor earned a reputation for his work ethic, attention to detail, tactical acumen and extraordinary results.

Mr. Wansor earned his J.D. from the University of Pepperdine School of Law, is a member of the State Bar of California and is licensed to practice in the Eastern, Southern and Central Districts of the United States District Court in California. He graduated with a BA in Speech Communication from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Mr. Wansor is active in the local community, serving on the Kellogg Elementary School Site Council (2017-2019 and 2019-2021 terms) and the Board of Directors for Dos Pueblos Little League. He enjoys coaching his three children in their various sports and extracurricular activities and is an avid wakeboarder, snowboarder and surfer.
